In 1542, the Baume family settled in the village of Les Bois in the Swiss Jura Mountains. Involved in the watch making business, the Baume family passed on their knowledge from father to son throughout the generations. In 1830, brothers Louis Victor and Pierre-Joseph Celestin Baume founded an agency in the Swiss Jura Mountains with their only motto being: "Accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality."
In 1912, William Baume met jeweler and watchmaker Paul Mercier at a Geneva watch and jewellery shop in Haas. The meeting resulted in the signing of an agreement in 1918 for the establishment of Baume et Mercier in Geneva.
The Baume & Mercier watches range has grown over the years to include the Riviera, Linea, Hampton, Capeland, Hampton Milleis, Diamant, Classima Executives and a limited edition series of Baume & Mercier watches paying homage to William Baume in a collection of limited and numbered edition timepieces that combine revisited tradition and timeless elegance.
The Classima collection of watches from Baume & Mercier has something for everyone, available with both quartz and automatic movements, chronographs and other complications. One example is a best selling Classima GMT Dual Time and Power Reserve. The new Ilea watch replaces the older Linea edition, a simple yet elegant watch from Baume and Mercier. The Instantaneously recognizable Riviera watch series with its unique shape is also available in various sizes, styles and complications. The Riviera Watch series is available in both men's and women's watch size. The Hampton edition is available in a simple classic style or a more modern style featuring the Hampton Milleis Series, or a version of bold/classic and sport watches from the Hampton Classic Square to the Hampton Classic Chronograph as well as being available in an XL size to fit all men.
