In 1833, Antoine LeCoultre opened his factory in Le Sentier in the Valley de Joux, Switzerland and commenced manufacturing. Some of the finest, most complicated and revolutionary watches ever conceived followed. His development of new manufacturing tools, measurment and techniques pushed into new boundaries of reality for the watch making world indeed numerous other brands including Patek Phillipe, Audemars Piguet, IWC and Vacheron Constantine utilized the movements of JLC. His motto was “we must base our experience on science”. The combination years later of Antoine’s grandson, David LeCoultre who merged the company with Edmond Jaeger started the Brand name Jaeger LeCoultre. 1931 saw the birth of the Reverso collection watch which is still today one of the most recognizable watches in the world.
